Dr Ron Roth MBBS

Dr. Roth has been a general practitioner in Hampton Park for more than 36 years.

He is experienced in all aspects of family care and has a particular interest in men’s health and the care of older patients

Dr Roth is very involved in the training of young doctors. He has supervised doctors undertaking advanced studies for many years and is a previous recipient of the Victorian General Practice Supervisor of the Year Award.

Dr Gayle Troedson MBBS (QLD 1983)

Dr. Troedson graduated from Queensland university and has been a long term doctor with the Southern Cross Medical Group.

Dr Troedson has a broad range of interests in General Practice and enjoys meeting patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Dr Bryan Winthrope MBBS, MSc.

Dr Winthrope is interested in all areas of family medicine with particular interest in, skin conditions, Mental Health, Chronic disease and Travel Medicine. Dr. Winthrope has an M.B.B.S and a Msc. from Melbourne University. He has been in General Practice for thirty one years (1990), twenty seven of those at Southern Cross Medical Centre.

Dr Paul Sandhu MBBS, FRACGP

Dr. Sandhu has been in General Practice in Hampton Park since 1997. He completed a Medical Certificate with the Australian College of Skin Cancer in February 2010. 

Dr Sandhu is interested in paediatrics, skin issues, womens contraceptive issues, workcover/TAC, and acute-musculo-skeletal injuries. He is also involved in the training of doctors and has been a Medical Educator for EVGPT since 2011.

Dr Cheryl Skadiang MBBS, FRACGP

Cheryl studied medicine at Monash University, graduating in 2007. She worked at hospitals across Monash Health and regionally in Gippsland before deciding to pursue General Practice, drawn by the opportunity for holistic and long-term patient care.

Cheryl enjoys all aspects of general practice including preventative care, mental health and women’s health.

Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys her family, coffee, food and gardening.

Dr Chaw “Su” Htwe MBBS, DRANZCOG, FRACGP

Dr Htwe joined Southern Cross Medical Group in early February 2010 working at Fountain Gate Medical Centre. “Su” moved to Southern Cross Medical Centre in August 2010.

She is fluent in Burmese and has a special interest in Womens health. She is a Shared Care GP who offers the antenatal care of the pregnancy with Monash Womens (Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Casey Hospital.

Dr Christine Won MBBS (Hons) FRACGP

Dr Christine Won studied medicine at Monash University, graduating with honours in 1996. She completed her internship nd residency at Box Hill Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital. She has been working at Southern Cross Medical Centre for over 20 years and has an interest in women’s, adolescents and children’s health as well as mental health.

Dr Timothy Voon MBBS FRACGP

Dr Timothy Voon graduated from Monash University with a degree in the Bachelor of Medicine and the Bachelor of Surgery in 1997. He went on to do his internship and residency at Dandenong District Hospital, Sandringham Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. He then graduated with a diploma in General Practice and Family Medicine (FRACGP) in 2000. He has been working at Southern Cross Medical Centre for over 20 years and has an interest in chronic medical conditions, geriatric and family medicine.

Dr Jacob Dessauer MBBS

Dr. Dessauer graduated from Melbourne University in 1982 and started working at Fountain Gate Medical Centre in 1987. He has interests in child & adolescent health, doctors’ health and medical education. He has been an accredited supervisor of GP trainees since 1996.

Dr Celeste Nguyen MBBS FRACGP

Dr Celeste Nguyen completed her medical degree at Monash University in 2001. She attained her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has worked at hospitals throughout Melbourne and Outer Metropolitan Victoria, including Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and Frankston Hospital before becoming a general practitioner.

She has enjoyed working in community and hospital palliative care, bariatric medicine and caring for chronic wounds.

She enjoys all areas of medicine, including women’s and children’s health. 

She loves spending time with her family, food, humour and the vagaries of life.

Dr Srabonti Hazra MBBS FRACGP

Dr Srabonti Hazra joined Southern Cross in June 2019. Dr Hazra consults Monday, Thursday, Friday and some weekends. Dr Hazra provides shared care with Monash Health for expectant mothers and sees all patients.

Dr Ashwin Sharma MBBS FRACGP

Dr Ashwin Umakantha Sarma graduated from Monash University in 2016, following which he worked in the public hospital system at Monash Health for several years. He obtained his fellowship in General Practice in 2023. He is interested in looking after all aspects of health and General Practice. Outside of work, he likes technology, classical Indian music and spending time in nature.

Dr Mark Francis M.D, BBMS (Hons)

Dr Mark Francis completed a Doctor of Medicine from Griffith University. He joined Southern Cross in February 2023.
Dr Mark sees patients across the entire spectrum of general practice.

Dr Michael Zhang MD, BBiomed 

Dr Michael Zhang obtained his medical degree, Doctor of Medicine, from Deakin University. He enjoys all aspects of general practice. He has gained diverse experience working in hospitals in eastern Melbourne and Gippsland (Box Hill, Maroondah, Angliss, West Gippsland, Leongatha and Latrobe Regional Hospital). Michael is fluent in Mandarin/Chinese.

OUR ALLIED HEALTH

Tom Carr

Tom Carr graduated from LaTrobe University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Podiatry. His employment background is varied, having practiced across a variety of settings including St Vincent’s Hospital and Monashlink Community Health in Melbourne, Rural North West Health in Warracknabeal, East Grampians Community Health in Ararat and Rural Remote Health Service in the Northern Territory. A great deal of his experience has been geared toward the management of Chronic Disease, in particular Diabetes and the subsequent complications. .

Vanesa Ogues RN, BNsg,GCDE, CDE (Credentialed Diabetes Nurse Educator)

Since completing her initial nursing studies in 2003, Vanesa has had the privilege of working in a variety of different nursing environments. These include working at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Royal District Nursing Service, and most recently, providing Diabetes education In the community setting. She highlights her most memorable working experience occuring in a remote rural community in Western Australia, working amongst the Indigenous population. Here , Vanesa’s interest in diabetes was sparked as she became aware of the far-reaching consequences that diabetes had on individuals when not supported and educated to manage their condition. Vanesa enjoys supporting her clients to become proactive in their diabetes management for better outcomes and a better quality of life.

Barbara Mitchell, Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Nutritionist 

Barbara has over 45 years experience in diabetes, cardiovascular nutrition, gastrointestinal nutrition and weight management.

She is skilled in educating patients on all facets of human nutrition through all life stages except for paediatric allergies and patients with eating disorders.

She is a mum of 3 and nanny to 3! Barbara enjoys all there is about food, from shopping to cooking to trying all cuisines!

Ana Paula Schaper BA(Hons), BSW, GradDipArts (Family Therapy), MSocPol, MAASW

Ana Paula is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 25 years’ of experience working in a wide range of clinical settings including adult and aged mental health services, schools, child, youth and family health and disability services. 

Ana Paula has specialist training in family therapy and mental health. She takes referrals for depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, suicidal ideation, psychotic illness, life crises, relationship and family issues, trauma, grief and loss. Ana Paula works to help individuals resolve their presenting mental health issues and reduce the impact these have on their quality of life and their relationships.

Andrew Plewa Dip. Applied Psych, Dip. Ed

Andrew consults at Southern Cross Medical Centre as needed. To book an appointment please call him directly on 0420 636 313. Andrew has many years of counselling experience, is accredited with the Australian Psychological Society and is a member of the College of Counselling and Organisational Psychologists. Services offered help patients deal with depression, anxiety, panic, stress, communication, relationship issues, trauma, life direction and coaching, parenting issues, grief and loss, anger management, workplace and medication issues. Andrew also has particular expertise in men’s issues, PTSD and the interplay between physical and psychological issues.

Terri Bartlett

Terri is an experienced Clinical and Counselling psychologist whose areas of practice include depression, anxiety, major life change, addictions, trauma, grief and loss and relationship problems. Terri’s approach is to provide a safe environment for clients to explore their issues and work collaboratively to achieve their goals.

OUR NURSES


Jess, Allison, Mohita, Angela, Tara, Brooke, Sandra and Tahlia are our dedicated practice nurses at Southern Cross Medical Centre, they have extensive family practice nursing experience. Our nurses work alongside our doctors to provide wound care, immunisations, iron infusions, implanon insertions and health assessments.
